Panasonic GH4 Low Light Test
Just received the LUMIX GH4 this week, after much deliberation. Its a fantastic piece of kit, all for an amazing price tag (compared to the competition). The only downside, apart from moving from Canon to Panasonic, is its capabilities in low light conditions. A shame considering all the pro’s to the camera, but understandably it can’t do it all. Investing in a good low aperture lens was a no brainer, so I started with the Panasonic LUMIX G 20mm f/1.7.

I went along to the Dublin Circus Festival in Trinity college. It was the first outing with the new camera, and no additional tripod or anything was available. I was impressed with the results, of both the camera and the pancake lens. Focusing was quick, sharp and the cinematic look of the raw footage is great. Without a tripod the photos were difficult but I’ve cut a small 15 sec clip of the video results.
It’ll be another few weeks of getting familiar with the new system before the true capabilities of the GH4 come to light.
I’m excited…
